With the release of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, viewers are expecting the box office to witness a rise again. The viewers after getting highly disappointed with ‘Tubelight’ and ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’, have really high hopes with Akshay’s latest release. And guess what? He is not letting his fans down.
Akshay has been the most underrated actor of Bollywood since years, especially in terms of box-office collections. But we can’t deny the fact that he has given one of the best films ever. His performance in Airlift, Special 26, Holiday, Bhool Bhulaiya, Rustom, etc are spectacular.
However, he is probably the only actor who gives tough competition to the Khans, not only in terms of good films, but from commercial aspect too. He has maintained a constant position on the Forbes as the ‘highest paid actors’ list in the world.
The khans were ruling the industry in early 2000s. At that time, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, and Hrithik Roshan were struggling to get into the race of Khans and challenge the trio. In 2007, Akshay finally managed to get into the race and positioned himself as one of the best actors of Bollywood.
Have a look at Akshay’s career graph since 2007. He has done 37 films, out of which 16 are multi-starrers, in a time span of 10 years, with 2012 being the game changing year of his life. The year witnessed hits like Rowdy Rathore, Housefull 2, OMG and others.
And here’s the box office collection of his films:
Rowdy Rathore, Airlift, Holiday, Jolly LLB 2 , and Rustom seem to be his highest grossing film. And not to ignore the trend of how the graph is constantly rising in comparison to previous years.
And here’s the report card of his overall success:
Akshay is a multi talented actor who keeps on trying challenging roles. The actor doesn’t stick to just one genre, but tries his luck in all genres like Comedy/rom-com, Action/Thrilller, and Drama too.
His films give a tough competition to other actors. Just like his latest release Toilet: Ek Prem Katha clashed with SRK’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’, his films face big clashes every year, and oftenly, it performs much better.
Even Toilet:EPK got a good opening of about Rs 13 crore on its first day. While ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ is estimated to collect a total of RS 65 crore in total.
Well, the self-made man actually deserved the national award!
