A 20-year-old, who represented India at the Asian Games, must have many dreams to contribute her part in the field of sports. But now, Jyoti Gupta’s are lying shattered on the ground as the national level hockey player found dead on a railway track near Rewari station in Haryana. Allegedly, Jyoti has committed suicide and her dead body was found on Wednesday.
She basically hailed from Sonepat district in Haryana. When the local resident found her body, they informed the police on the spot. One of the drivers of Chandigarh-Jaipur Intercity Express has informed that the Police have alleged that the girl has committed suicide.
As per the driver, who was driving the train and is an eye witness of the entire incident, he narrated that Jyoti “suddenly jumped” in front of the speeding train.
He also said that he tried to pull the brakes also but because it was so sudden that he couldn’t control the speed of the train, hence it couldn’t stop.
As per the collected information by the Police, it was further informed that Jyoti was heading for Maharshi Dayanand University. She left her home by telling her parents that she is going to the university to get her name rectified on the marksheets of Class X and XII.
Mr. Balbir Singh, SHO, Railway GRP Police, Rewari told media people, “It was a case of suicide. We went there and examined the place and also discussed with the driver of Chandigarh-Jaipur train. The player was standing alone close to the trail and unexpectedly arrived in front of the running train. We have recorded the declaration made by the train driver and also gathered reports of other executives who were there at the spot. No case had been lodged and the dead body has been given to the family members of the player.”
She called her parents at around 7 pm and that was her last call. She informed about the delay of her bus. The parents received another call at around 10:30 pm, where GRP informed about the death of their daughter.
She was the striker of her team and had represented India during the 2016 South Asian Games. After a three-month-long practice, she was preparing for the World Hockey League semi-finals.
