IT department Seized 300cr from Karnataka Minister DK Shivakumar

The Income Tax division has almost wrapped up its investigations at the residences/properties of D.K. Shivakumar, Karnataka Energy Minister, his family members and pals crosswise the state plus in the national capital, a senior executive stated on August 05.


A senior I-T division representative told reporters, “Our search and seizure operations against the Minister, his relatives and friends have almost ended, pending formalities, as collection and documentation of seized material takes time.”

Acknowledging that the operation was a lengthy exercise in terms of time (80 hours), places (67) and representatives engaged (300), the administrator stated that the Department’s enquiry division would settle on when to disclose the info publicly.


The administrator of the IT section’s Karnataka and Goa area stated, “The Investigation Wing Director General alone can decide when and what information can be given to the public after the search teams submit their reports (panchanamas) along with seizures. These things take time.”

Raids started at the Minister’s house in Kanakapura, and South Delhi at 7 a.m. on Wednesday and carried on till Saturday noontime, with the Central Reserve Police Force offering protection to the raiding squads.


At the same time, investigations were carried out at the properties of the Minister’s blood brother D.K. Suresh at Ramanagara in Bengaluru Rural region, Shivakumar’s father-in-law Thimmaiah at Mysuru, brother-in-law’s residence and even his fortune-teller Dwarakanath Guruji in the city of Bengaluru.

They also carried out raids on the biz companions of Karnataka Energy Minister in Bengaluru as well as Hassan.


The squads on early August 02 raided the sumptuous suite of D.K. Shivakumar at the Eagleton Resort at Bidadi, around 40km from here, where the minister was residing to host 44 Congress politicians from the state of Gujarat.


The legislators flew into Bengaluru on July 29 from Ahmedabad to avoid poaching attempts by the rival BJP prior to the August 8 Rajya Sabha elections in the western state.


The I-T section stated in a declaration on August 2 that all the raids were not linked to the Gujarat politicians’ stay at Eagleton Resort and that the regulation of occurrence was unintentional.


After the sleuths left his house, a alleviated Shivakumar told media that he never did work in opposition to the strength of the regulation and had nothing to put out of sight.


“I would like to thank all my leaders across the country who stood by me in the hour of crisis. I will not embarrass my party or will let down my leaders,” said the Minister.
