India is celebrating its 70th Independence Day this 15th August. While the country is busy preparing for the traditional ways to celebrate the day, OLA has come up with a new initiative to celebrate the day in the most amazing way!
Ola has brought an opportunity for it’s ‘share customers’ to ride with ex-servicemen. The initiative, ‘Ola Sainiks’ is an entrepreneurial mission in which the ex-servicemen will serve as driver-partners.
The customers who opt for shared rides on OLA from August 14 to August 16 will get an opportunity to interact with our heroes during their ride. This way, the people will get to hear some first-hand accounts of the Sainiks’ days in the armed forces and how they continue to contribute to India’s development.
Speaking on the initiative, Vishal Kaul, COO at Ola said, “I have interacted with several ex-servicemen of the country, and they have some inspiring stories to tell! With Ola Share, we strive to achieve freedom from congestion that will go a long way in improving the quality of life for every Indian.”
Gurmail Singh, a retired Subedar who was a part of the Indian Peace Keeping Force has been with Ola since 2015. He is Excited to share his story, and said, “I have served in the army for 30 years and am a proud retired officer. My life’s mission and that of many others like me continues to be serving the nation’s best interests.”
Well, that’s a beautiful initiative! It’s more of a ‘Ek Teer se do nishaane’ kinda initiative. On one hand, they aim to curb with the problem of increasing traffic and pollution. On the other hand, they give much-deserved recognition to our real heroes.
